We need more lighting in many of the courts and closes off the main roads. Many of the lights that do exist are too dim, but more effective and energy efficient options are becoming available all the time. The initial outlays should reduce long term running costs, at the same time as providing safety and comfort for residents.
Draw up plans for visibly improving Arbury Town Park and Nun's Way recreation ground, with a starting focus on:
seating,
tree planting,
maintenance & cleanliness and
improved lighting.
Of course any development of Arbury Court must include careful consideration of the exisitng play area, green public spaces and youth facilities.
New housing is using up the green spaces that used to exist. Building more homes must be a top priority, but we need a master plan to make sure development doesn't reduce our access to green spaces. Trees and grassy areas peform many practical and important roles in the functioning of a city, and we must ensure we give them the respect they deserve as we increase the number of homes we provide.
Fast visible improvements to existing rubbish through a concerted and energetic initial community clean-up drive.
Ongoing information service for the best ways to deal with bulky waste items (to reduce the motivation to fly tip), alongside a simple and easy way to report fly tipping and litter problems for fast and efficient clean up.
Simply providing more bins would also ease the issue - rubbish builds up between collections so keeping it contained during that time will be a simple and effective fix.
