Whilst Arbury Court isn't in Kings Hedges, it is a vital lifeline for our community. I recall fond memories of cycling to the library and getting books out and buying cream cakes from the bakery.
The supermarket, post office and library are still essential services that many of us rely on.
I feel strongly that the flats and houses in Arbury Court need to be improved so that they are fit for purpose and comfortable and safe for residents to live in. These council homes do need rejuvenation. Everyone has a basic right to housing that is warm, safe and free from black mould. But any redevelopment must put residents first. That means listening to those who live there and ensuring they have the right to return once the homes are rebuilt.
As the area is renewed, amenities should grow too - including the possibility of a cafe/other community friendly spaces. I will campaign for a GP, an NHS dentist and a Vet in Arbury Court.
The council needs to involve the local community in the decision making and planning for the new and improved homes. We need to factor in that green spaces like the local park must also be protected and improved. These areas are vital for families, wellbeing and community life.
